Angry Birds The film will arrive in the summer of 2016
David Maisel, Chairman of Marvel Studios and executive producer of Iron Man, will executive produce the film hit theaters in the summer of 2016.
The company, which already has a part of its development team working on the film has confirmed that this project will be financed outside the studio system, so that Rovio can maintain complete creative control throughout the filmmaking process.
Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Entertainment, said during the announcement:
John is an exceptionally talented producer, we are delighted he has joined our team. With him as producer and David’s experience we can create and manage a successful title. Both professionals have the skills and vision needed ideal to achieve incredible things.
Jhoen Cohen has been recently as vice president of production at 20th Century Fox, during this time, Cohen has worked closely in creating films like Ice Age and Robots.
Both from a strategic standpoint, as entertainment, Rovio, is at the forefront of innovation in the world of video games, allowing fans of the saga’s characters interact with amazing ways.
The next film will mark the first foray Rovio in film, but fans of the brand have already received an introduction to the world of angry birds through their games, books, consumer products and animations.
Since its debut in 2009, the Angry Birds saga has become a truly mass phenomenon, their titles have been downloaded more than 1000 million times across various platforms.
