Curiosity complete inspection of the strange stone pyramid

Curiosity complete inspection of the strange stone pyramid

A few days ago we told how the rover is preparing to discuss the strange structure found on Mars . A pyramid-shaped red baptized under the name of Jake Matijevic after the NASA engineer who died recently. After two days, the inspection is completed .

analyzed the structure through its robotic arm evaluating the chemicals that were in the rock. He did it through his instrument contact Alpha X-Ray Spectrometer (APXS).

APXS is a turret on the end of the rover, an arm of 2 meters long. The lens Mahli, located on the same tower, was used to thoroughly inspect the structure.

ChemCam chamber was responsible for firing laser pulses to the target from the top of Curiosity, assessing what chemicals were inside the rock Matijevic.

The definitive test ChemCam laser meant that on September 24 Curiosity completed his first work on a strange object on the red planet. Now I have to wait for NASA show the results obtained through the rover.

Seven weeks ago Curiosity landed on on a mission that will take two years to up to 10 different analysis tools. A mission to try to assess the possibility that had existed on Mars environmental conditions favorable for life.
