Disney buys Lucasfilm

Following the relatively recent strategy to rebuild and distribute quality content (reflected by the purchase of Pixar a few years ago) Walt Company purchased 100% of Lucasfilm Ltd. including all rights of use and exploitation related to the whole universe of . The purchase is hahecho through a combination of cash and shares money. The 100% owned by founder George Lucas.

Yes, Star Wars is now part of Disney. In a recently published press release, George Lucas said:

The past 35 years one of my greatest pleasures was seeing how Star Wars has passed from one generation to another. Time to move the franchise to a new generation of people. I always believe that Star Wars can live far beyond me and is important to make this transition in my life. I am convinced that Star Wars, directed by Kathleen Kennedy and within Disney as a company will have a lot more life and reach more generations.

It also confirms that produce Disney Star Wars Episode 7 and will be released in 2015. Kathleen Kennedy, who co-CEOs Lucasfilm now becomes president of what is now a division of Disney.
