Joyn, the WhatsApp Movistar, Orange and Vodafone
Movistar, Orange and Vodafone team up to launch Joyn, a service-style WhatsApp global partnership created by the GSMA operators. With this new service, the three major operators in Spain want to make its own enriched communication platform. Will beat those that have been long enough rooted in the market?
Seeing the success deep that allow applications to keep in touch thanks to Internet operators have decided to enter with Joyn. This new communication service to chat, send messages, call and send videos or pictures at once. The big disadvantage is that you can only contact a customer of any of these three operators. Other services like voice calls or video over IP will be presented shortly. Unsurprisingly, these services can be used via the mobile network or WiFi wireless networks.
For now, Joyn is available only for Android but plan to make a version for iOS in the near future. You can download the app right now from the Play Store and from next year will be distributed distributed with it installed as standard. When installed, the devices will have to pass a test of interoperability to ensure privacy and security of communications.
With this release, the three major operators in Spain claim that their new service Joyn become a standard. Will they succeed? Personally, I think not. WhatsApp is very mature in the market, but fail one time or another. In addition, Line has recently begun to take off offering a platform and already has a considerable amount of 77 million users. Finally, the major drawback of Joyn is only serving to these three operators bypassing other MVNOs that will not stop growing.
